These split mutes are no longer in production, and we believe we have the last remaining stock of them.
The original splits were cut too thin on one side at the factory, so we bonded the original cut with CA and re-cut the split to be properly centered down the rubber piece. The line from the original cut is slightly visible, but this is purely cosmetic since CA makes a perfect bond when joining rubber together (you may remember the demonstrations by Jim Coleman Jr. when he cut a rubber hose and glued it with CA, and seconds later it was impossible to pull apart).
