The ultimate wire storage system for field repairs.
PLEASE make sure to count the number of tire gauges you are selecting in the check boxes so that it is equal to the number of tires you are actually ordering. If the number does not match, your order will be cancelled.
About 1/4 of the orders we've received have more or fewer gauges selected than the tire quantity, and we can no longer take the time to contact everyone for clarification. (Our website is not capable of automatically verifying the number of checked boxes at the time of ordering). Thank you for your understanding.
The current lead time for loaded sets of Piano Wire Tires is 5-6 weeks.
If you are ordering other (in stock) items that you wish to receive more quickly, please place a separate order for those items.
This compact, lightweight system keeps your wire coils organized, so you are always prepared to splice or replace a broken string. Each tire holds up to 3 ounces of wire, made of durable plastic, and is marked with a wire gauge number for easy identification. The unique design of the Piano Wire Tires prevents the wire from accidental uncoiling, which can be a problem with other storage methods.
This set is pre-loaded with 1.5 oz of Mapes International Gold wire on each tire.
Our unloaded set is a more cost-effective option if you prefer to use your own supply wire and load your own tires.
The basic set includes 12 tires, but you can configure your set to have as many as 19 tires (that is how many will stack on the storage tube).
What wire gauges are included?
It's up to you, because the set is custom made to your specification.
Available wire gauges: 12, 12.5, 13, 13.5, 14, 14.5, 15, 15.5, 16, 16.5, 17, 17.5, 18, 18.5, 19, 19.5, 20, 20.5, 21, 21.5 and 22.
Use the "Number of Tires" selector to choose how many you want, and then use the "Gauge Selection" check boxes to indicate your gauges. Please make sure the number of checked boxes matches the number of tires you are ordering.
Each Piano Wire Tires set comes with a lightweight zipper bag for transporting them. The tires are stacked on a 12" x 3.5" storage cylinder, which can also hold tools or parts.
When reloading the tires, we suggest using about 1.5 oz. of wire in each tire for a lightweight set that is easy to travel with, while still providing sufficient wire for the occasional string breakage.
Use this length/weight chart to help you cut the correct length of wire for each wire gauge.
